The Convent is our annual formal assembly of members of our order, which includes senior officers, knights, clergy, and postulants about to be knighted, and is held before the Investiture. It serves several purposes:
- To review and affirm the readiness and worthiness of postulants.
- To conduct ceremonial proceedings such as the vigil.
- To discuss matters of governance, tradition, and the mission of the order.
- To gather the brotherhood in unity and spiritual preparation.
It is a solemn and reverent occasion, blending tradition, scripture, and sacred ritual.
The Investiture is our official and ceremonial act of conferring knighthood upon our postulants. It is the culmination of their preparation—both spiritual and moral—and marks their full entry into the order as a knight or dame.
The Investiture includes:
- A formal introduction of the postulants.
- Oaths and vows pledging honor, service, humility, and faith.
- The dubbing or laying on of the sword by a senior knight or Grand Master, with the words “In the name of God, I dub thee Knight”.
- Presentation of insignia: cloak, cross, medallion, or sword.
- A blessing and prayer by clergy, dedicating the knight and dame to righteous service.
This rite is both deeply symbolic and sacred, representing a lifelong commitment to the values of the order—honor, service, courage, and faith.
